Established on 1 April 1997 by André Ferreira, Jungle Gym World grew from a small playground manufacturing company with five personnel members, to a well-known company that provides a livelihood for 47 families and adheres to all Government prescripts and requirements. Initially the company only manufactured steel jungle gyms together with small educational toys. Due to demand, the company expanded to include wood playground manufacturing, managed by the wood partner Albert Jacobsz.
The company now has the largest variety of steel and wooden jungle gyms, as well as other fantasy and adventure play structures in South Africa. Jungle Gym World is the official supplier of play structures to all the Smiley Kids Association pre-schools. It supplies 40 African self-help schools in Soweto and exports its products to the SADC countries.
