Bio diesel [Wednesday, October 20, 2010]

Bio diesel is produces from waste oil and burns cleaner than conventional petro diesel. It reduced carbon emissions and does not require any special equipment to be added to your vehicle.

Customers start off with a 5-10% blend and increase to 20% or higher. We have a customer who runs a C class Mercedes on 100% bio diesel and has done so from day one. Besides this he runs any amount of bio diesel he can lay his hinds on blended with petro diesel in a fleet of Mercedes trucks.

Horrified at service cost on Ford KA [Wednesday, February 04, 2009]

Horrified at the cost for the second annual service on her FORD KA a friend asked me tolook into it for her.

The Service manager agreed to discuss the invoice and my concerns.

The total cost of the second annual service was R5145.35

FINDINGS:
Overcharged labour
- 1.4 hours - R614.49 - 30%

The reason for the overcahrge was blamed on the technician, who had not referred to the service schedule when he wrote up his time on the job card. The fact is that the service schedule was not attached to the job card when the technician completed the job card. The Service advisor completed the schedule at the time she explianed the invoice detail to the customer.

Brakes discs and pads fitted prematurely. They could have lasted another 6 - 8 months minimum. The customer was not informed that the brakes could be replaced in the future as there was roughly 50% wear remaining. The reason given by the Service advisor for not informing the customer was “She did not complain about the price.”

Cost of parts for discs padsR1926.65

Total overcharge including labour and parts - R2541.14

The Service manager agreed to reimburse the customer with the labour amount of R614 and 15% of the parts cost for the discs pads – R381.17

She received a cheque ten days later for R995.66 - 20%

In reality she should have received R2980.06 - 58% to make up for the parts and labour to fit the brake dioscs and pads
